HJ-10 Anti-Tank Missile
HJ-10 (Red Arrow 10, AFT-10) is a Chinese ground-launched anti-tank missile developed by Norinco. This anti-tank missile carrier made its public debut in 2014. At that time, it was already in service with the Chinese Armed Forces. Such anti-tank missile carriers are being produced in large quantities. It has a tandem high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead that can penetrate 1,400 mm (55 inches) of conventional steel armor protected by explosive reactive armor. Locked before or after launch, with a maximum range of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Air-launched versions for helicopters and drones have also been developed.
This ATGW ship carries HJ-10 missiles. This missile is a Chinese clone of China’s “Israeli assault rifle” NLOS. It uses the same technology. HJ-10 can also be regarded as a reduced version of China’s CM-501G ground attack missile. AFT-10 is only a third of the CM-501G. The range is 10 kilometers. The minimum range is 3 kilometers.
The missile has an optical / imaging guidance system. It is a non-line-of-sight missile. It can lock targets in sight. Alternatively, the operator can use the real-time image of the missile to lock the target to the target after launch. The missile’s instructions are transmitted via a two-way fiber optic cable. The launch vehicle has two consoles for the operator.
It can engage enemy tanks, armored vehicles, buildings and field fortifications. It can also engage low-flying helicopters.
The missile launcher is mounted on the chassis of the ZBD-08 infantry fighting vehicle. One launcher has eight weapons ready to launch missiles. The missile was launched from a container.
The vehicle is operated by 3 attendants, including the commander, driver and operator.
This anti-tank missile carrier is likely to be powered by BF8M1015CP diesel with a power of 590 hp. The engine is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. AFT-10 is completely amphibious. Above the water, it is pushed by its trajectory.
The missile carrier is supported by an associated loading vehicle. It is based on an 8×8 truck chassis and is equipped with heavy-duty missiles. The truck is equipped with a hydraulic crane. Reloading all missiles takes about 20 minutes.
