How did the one road one belt policy fail by irritating all the nearby nations, including Russia?
OBOR (One Belt One Road, or called Belt Road Initiative – BRI) is indeed a great economic plan on earth and an ambitious economic project. Not only it promotes peace in radiated regions, but also generates economic benefits to all participating countries and their neighborhoods.
It is to form a gigantic economic zone consists of Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa and Latin America.
China learnt from its success path that infrastructures, transportation are critical to economic growth. It helps logistics of products between countries of the economic zone.
To China, it is not only economic benefits, but also international strategy by breaking condemnation by the US in maritime route. Iran is a good example to illustrate the short fall of sole reliance of sea route. When it is sealed by military force, logistics is dead. Without war, economy will go down without logistics.
This is main purpose for the US propaganda to bad mouthing OBOR as debt trap, in order to scare off other countries to participate in OBOR, by sacrificing other countries economic development opportunities.
Geographically, Russia is not a country along the land route of OBOR, but Russian has direct connection with China and Europe who doesn’t require OBOR.
The economic cooperation between China and Russia is different. The China Mongolia Russia corridor bridges trades among them. Just China alone is capable of digesting its agricultural export products. Russia energy is distributed to east side China and west side Europe via direct links. Not sure where comes the saying that Russia is irritated by OBOR.
A gigantic project like OBOR, its benefits is not instant. It is a solid foundation to ensure economic growth of participating countries.
Ignoring all those rumors and bad mouthing propaganda, think subjectively, Japan, German, France now show great interests to join OBOR, Italy has signed BRI already in Mar 2019. The implication is obvious.
